- FloorSecure is a solvent free, odorless adhesive that still works without sacrificing performance. FloorSecure has a unique, isocyanate free formula that offers easy installation of wood and laminated substrates. FloorSecure is safe for occupied buildings such as schools, hospitals, or food processing plants, where solvent vapors and odors are not tolerated. Flooring work can thus be done without shutting-down operations. FloorSecure will not shrink, ensuring maximum coverage per unit. Unlike most solvent based floor tile adhesives which require flashing of solvent and maintain a strong odor long after application, FloorSecure contains very low VOC’s and is environmentally compliant throughout the United States. FloorSecure is OSHA compliant and eliminates chronic exposure hazards associated with conventional solvent release adhesives. It contains no carcinogens or mutagens – excellent news for both the occupants of the building where this floor tile adhesive is being applied as well as for the installation team!
Subfloor Preparation - Remove all dirt, oil, loose paint, old adhesive,
wax, sealers, curing agents, and other contamination from all working surfaces by general abrading. When
sandblasting, shot blasting or scarifying, surface texture must be similar to light broom finish
concrete. Maximum acceptable floor variation is 3/16” for a 10ft length. Surface areas requiring
patching or leveling must be done using portland based cementious patching materials. All loose material
must be vacuumed from the surface before application. Maintain FloorSecure at room temperature before
applying to ensure easy troweling and leveling. Test and evaluate to ensure adequate adhesion. Subfloor
Moisture Check - Prior to the installation of FloorSecure on a concrete subfloor, CHEMLINK recommends
that a Calcium Chloride test be performed to check for moisture pressure. When performing this
application, it is recommended that several locations on the substrate are to be tested. The concrete
subfloor is not to exceed 15 lbs./1000 sq. ft./24 hours per Calcium Chloride Test (ASTM F1869) or 85%
relative humidity when tested with an in situ probe (ASTM F2170). For installations on wood substrates,
acceptable conditions are moisture readings less than 12% when using a Tramex, Delmhorst, or an
equivalent wood moisture meter. Installation - Begin installation by securing a starter row to the
subfloor. The starter row provides a stationary point to push against and prevent flooring shift during
installation. Once the starter row is secured, apply adhesive to substrate with the appropriate trowel.
Spread the adhesive and begin to install the flooring immediately. For “walk-on-work” installations,
immediately clean any adhesive from pre-finished flooring with solvent. Be careful not to harm the
finish of the flooring. Buff the flooring with a dry rag or paper towel. If required, after a few rows
have been installed, secure the flooring boards with removable tape to prevent sliding. Flooring that is
not flat should be tacked, weighted, or rolled to ensure proper contact between the flooring and
substrate. Rolling is recommended for all installations with a 150 lb. roller within 30 minutes of
application. Available only through Chem Link distributors.
